Diane Kay Still

STILL, Diane Kay a resident of Prattville, Alabama passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 in a local hospital.  Loving wife and companion for 28 years, recieved her Heavenly Reward on Monday.  Service will be announced later by Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services.


Jerald Piwetz

Jerald Twayne Piwetz

January 18, 1946 – December 20, 2020

 

Jerry ran the race and was called heavenward on Sunday December 20, 2020 after a hard fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. 

 

            On January 18, 1946,  Jerald “Jerry” Twayne Piwetz was born to parents: Elwin Twayne Piwetz and Elsie Hanks Piwetz, in Stamford, Texas.  He and his older sister, Anna, traveled the United States and world with their parents throughout his father’s Air Force career.  After graduating from high school in Tampa, Florida, Jerry enrolled in Auburn University.  He completed four years of ROTC and was a member of the Pershing Rifles, Scabbard & Blade and Arnold Air Society while earning his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.  While at Auburn he met, dated and married his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Susan Nickerson.  Jerry served in the Air Force for 24 years.  First in Manpower Management and then as a Chaplain Assistant.  The latter being his most enjoyed career.

            Jerry was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed the game of golf for most of his life, until his disease took his ability to walk the golf course away from him approximately 7 years ago.

            Jerry loved God, his wife, his children and grandchildren dearly.  He loved serving others whether at church, at home or in daily life.  He loved well and served heartily as unto the Lord.  His was a life well lived.

            He is survived by his wife, Susan Nickerson Piwetz; daughter, Julie Piwetz Anderson; son, John (Karen) Piwetz; Granchildren: David Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Gabrielle (Eric) Sullivan, Jared Anderson, Olivia Piwetz, Charlotte Piwetz and Hadassah Piwetz; his sister, Anna Morrison; Aunt Jean Clark, Aunt Rose Ballard and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceeded in death by his parents.

            In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vaughn Forest Church in memory of Jerry Piwetz. 

            A Celebration of Life service to honor Jerry will be held on Monday, Decemeber 28, 2020 at 2 pm with family visitation starting at 1 pm at the church.


Ivey "Ikey" Lewis Benton

Ivey “Ikey” Lewis Benton, 75, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on December 12, 2020. A celebration of life will be held in the main sanctuary at Frazer Church in Montgomery at 2:00 on Thursday, December 17th. Dr. Chris Montgomery and Dr. Neil Epler will be officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kate Benton of Eufaula, AL. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice Roberts Benton; his daughters, Shannon (David) Long and Betsy (Brian) Lamons; his brother, Jeff (Kathy) Benton; grandchildren, Taylor Hardy, Brooke Hardy, Morgan Long and Gracie Kate Lamons.

Ikey was born in Eufaula, Alabama on May 18, 1945. He was a member of Frazer Church and worked for Alabama Power Company for 40 years. He was in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves for 20 years. Anyone that knew Ikey knew the incredible love he had for his family. He was a devoted Christian husband to his high school sweetheart. He was an amazing Father, Brother, Co-worker, loyal friend and avid golfer. Many knew him for his immaculate yard and beautiful flowers.

The family would like to thank the Montgomery Cancer Center and the numerous doctors and nurses that cared for him over the last 14 years. Though his family will miss him, they take comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering and walking with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Encouragers Class at Frazer Church or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
